Patches dahlias is a delightful tall plant with sturdy stalks and a big blooms. No two blooms look the same in these type of dahlias. The plant will constantly amaze and surprise you with different presentations of tips of a purple (fuchsia) petal. The color of this purple is more on the red spectrum than the deep blues some people attribute with purple. The flowers remind us of a patchwork quilt and the large blooms work well in arrangements. If you are interested in this tuber, you should be prepared for variation and we can not guarantee you will get a flower that will look exactly the same on each bloom.

Nichole was a bit atypical for a child, fascinated with homesteading and life in the 1800’s. For her senior project, she researched the history of quilts and then sewed a quilt. It comes as no surprise that she still enjoys quilting and memories of her grandmother teaching her to sew quilts. Patches speaks to that history and is a reminder in a way of traditions passed from family members. We appreciate the constant variation in flowers, each a unique expression.
