Cornel Bronze Dahlia

  • Taken from the right of the flower, with the stem in the center lower frame, Cornel Bronze Dahlias are known for their strong stems.
  • Taken from the left, the ball dahlia is centered and surrounded by green foliage. It is a rusty orange color.
  • In lower light, the flower is oriented to the upper right and shows the bronze tones of the flower.

Cornel Bronze Dahlias have the same shape as Cornel Red. The petals tightly curl up towards the center of the bloom and the petals near the center look like shark teeth with perfect little layered triangles pointed to the center. This flower has a rusty orange color. It has a long strong stem and leafy plant. The flowers are very symmetrical and numerous blooms are produced. We have been loving the quantity of blooms it cranks out as well as the color.

We added Cornel Bronze to the garden after three years of obsession and wondering how we were going to get our hands on this delightful flower. In the Spring of 2022, Nichole launched a Facebook group to connect with other local Dahlia growers where she met Anita, who makes beautiful cut flowers to sell at the Knappa Coffee Shop in Knappa, OR. The tuber we got was precious, 3 inches long, tapered to the neck and a little white stalk about the diameter of a piece of spaghetti. It’s funny how you remember little details like that. Once Cornel Bronze bloomed, we were even more in love with the flower.
