A La Mode Dahlia
This perky orange and white tipped flower is the hallmark of A La Mode Dahlias. Like many variegated blooms, the genetics of this plant will keep you surprised at what each new blooms presents. The blooms are large and stems are good for cutting. Some blooms are orange and others more apricot colored. They can be nearly solid, a blend of solid and tipped petals, or completely white tipped. The plant is study and supports the many blooms. If space is available in our garden, we always plant a few extra of A La Mode. All of these photos are from the same plant, so expect a lot of variation in blooms from A La Mode.
We got out A La Mode Dahlias from a good friend who owns the In The Trough Farm. We get a kick out of sharing photos of flowers and trading tubers. When Nichole saw the big beautiful two colored blooms in hand, she knew that this tuber would be a constant companion in the garden and it works well in fall bouquets. The blooms appear to have a long vase life for dahlias.
