Excentric has a brilliant splash of yellow in the pink petals. Its a warm bloom and produces nice flowers through the season. As a shorter plant, it isn’t as important to stake this variety, but we do just in case. It’s produced quite a few tubers in the fall. This variety has done ok in our climate during the summer, but hasn’t done as well as others suggesting it may like a warmer summer than where we grow. The biggest struggle has been over wintering. We have over wintered every other variety well, but have not managed to over winter this variety.

We started with this variety and loved the color. Our neighbor did too and it was often chosen for bouquets. The struggle with this variety is getting the tubers to survive storage. We tried three consecutive years, reordering in the spring for replacement. After comparing notes with other growers, we discovered many have struggled to get this variety to survive storage and we certainly haven’t figured out the trick. As such, we have directed efforts other ways and although we miss this bloom, there are plenty other lovelies to grow in its place.
