Kasasagi Dahlia
Tiny, petite, vivid and packing a load of color, Kasasagi Dahlias are a delightful pom pom. In our garden the plant grows a dense shrub with tons of flowers. The plant gets almost 4 feet tall and each flower is 1.5-2 inches in size. There is some variation to how much red is on the edges of the petal and towards the end of the blooms life, the center will pop with pollen. This variety makes so many blooms you can raid it heavily for bouquets and still have some on the plant to make the garden patch a colorful display.
Our first pom pom was Kasasagi. We love the yellow red combination in the cute little flower and while the tuber we bought was only supposed to grow 3.5 feet tall, it appears to love our marine environment and has topped our at nearly 4 feet tall. Although considered a mid season bloomer, we have found in our climate it is one of the first to bloom. The plant tolerates crowding, and maybe even is responsible for crowding back. A miniature version of Mardi Gras, we can’t get enough of these fall, fiery colors.
