Bahama Mama Dahlias have a definite tropical feel. Our daughter chose this flower for the garden and it has shown itself to be a good producer of loud large flowers. The blooms have an almost soft feeling to them with a little spice in the center. Beautiful in arrangements, as well as in the garden. This one has been a yearly keeper on our farm.

It was pretty funny to watch a 6 year old scoping out the Swan Island Dahlia Catalog mimicking her mom. She became obsessed over the Bahama Mama flower and asked us if Santa would bring her one. Well Swan Island doesn’t deliver in December, but we added a tuber to our order (or maybe built and order around getting the tuber – you decide) and we picked it up. She was thrilled to plant in the Spring of 2021 and make a video of her planting tubers for her schools virtual talent show. This tuber has tons of great family feels on our farm and every day she runs out to see how many flowers are on her plant in her raised bed.
