Creme de Cassis Dahlia
Two toned Creme de Cassis Dahlias are a lavender petal on the top and wine colored petal on the bottom. The blooms are about 4 inches. If you look close, the wine color from the bottom petal almost outlines the petal on the top side. We’ve noticed the center of the flower has a darker lavender than the outer petals. The tubers are smaller sized, but that hasn’t impacted the growth of the plant and the leaves are a nice deep green. Our garden seemed like it needed more purples and we saw this flower advertised on Facebook from a farm in the mid-west that is now defunct. Unlike many customers that lost their money, we got this tuber and two other substitutions.
While we count our blessings that tubers arrived, we are treating them with suspicion in case they came with diseases. We are still getting to know this tuber and see how it grows. We will be watching it over the next couple of years and getting to know it better so we can provide more information like how tall the plant averages in a growing season and how many blooms are produced. As a last note, this flower is very similar to the variety called Lauren Michele.
